My latest five-line poem was inspired by this morning by music, as often occurs. This time, the poem title itself was inspired by music from Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton. Here’s one of the songs I’ve had on loop:
Soft Skeleton
My soft skeleton can only take so many hits behind the skin that burns for you.
At night, it moans to the shadows, pleading for a respite that won’t come,
and if you listen closely during the day, you hear it practicing its death rattle.
The tragic irony is that no matter how hot the skin burns,
no fire can burn the soft skeleton underneath.
Very nice. Epic, in fact. ππ
