I think on days like this when we are cursing the snow for fucking up our commute or for making our toes cold, where we yearn for hot chocolate and a cozy blanket; it’s worth remembering that there is some poor guy or girl out there shivering on a street corner with a rattling stomach or trying to get warm on the concrete of a parking garage or waiting in vain in a long line at a shelter…
People, especially those without warm homes, die in weather like this.
Sure we can do this thought experiment with a plethora of issues, like how when you’re eating your Chipotle burrito, a hungry kid 8,000 miles away would kill just to eat whatever residue is left on the foil, but that doesn’t mean it’s a thought not worth exercising.
