Poem: Sunken

My latest original five-line poem. As the Da Vinci drawing I recently reviewed might indicate, I’ve been particularly intrigued by trees as of late. Thus.

sunken

the tree offered a view of a different world
but it sunk into itself; leaves back to bark
and trunk back to root. As the soil filled my
mouth, I inhaled the nutrients of rebirth,
knowing they’d not find purchase here.
