Today’s haiku challenge:
My style is the five/seven/five syllable structure. Here are my 10 haiku poems:
he once had the best.
looking back, it seems surreal,
like it never was.
The best you could say
of him with her, was that he
was middling at best.
Be the best you can
be, they always like to say.
But what if I can’t.
Be the best you can
be, they always like to say.
But what if I’m tired.
Be the best you can
be, they always like to say.
But what if this is.
Be best bee, they said.
Not their vocabulary.
Not best; bees just are.
For the lion, best
meant best able to hunt and
kill — just one metric.
For a serial
killer, I suppose the same
‘best’ metric applies.
The best apple just
is best artificially.
Science, not merit.
Best the day, the say.
But day has already won.
It always will. Rigged.
