Haiku Challenge for Oct. 12: ‘Resign’

Creative Commons photo.

Today’s haiku challenge:

My style is the five/seven/five syllable structure. Here are my 10 haiku poems:

depression, I say
to you, I resign, you win,
it’s your kingdom now.

depression, I say
to you, I resign, take me
to your dark villa.

depression, I say
to you, I resign, and I
give myself over.

anxiety says:
resign, quit everything, run
resign until death.

resign yourself; she’s
gone now, they say to me, but
I whisper back, “No.”

I still cling to the
memories we once shared, not
ready to resign.

resign feels formal,
no, it’s surrender, giving
up, nothing left here.

the books turn to dust,
as they resign themselves to
my averted gaze.

bee resigns today
tired of flying, buzzing, but
never the honey.

lion resigns his
reign as king of the jungle;
time for the long nap.
