Haiku Challenge for Nov. 5: ‘Dream’

Creative Commons photo.

Today’s haiku challenge:

My style is the five/seven/five syllable structure. This was one of my favorites in a while, as “dream” allows you to get more surrealist. Here are is my second version of this prompt:

dream a face of dirt
like a mud mask with snug fit.
Worms won’t even touch.

what is a world where
you sleep without any dreams
and wake to nightmares?

Dream of you like a
shard of glass stuck in my brain,
reflecting past world.

depression dreams be
like memories drowning in
the blood of longing.

depression dreams be
like a spiral with unseen
endless bottom pits.

I dream while awake
live when I’m asleep, and die
in surreal limbo.

dream snowflakes fall on
my nose and within reach, they
then dissolve away.

I dream of a death
with validation flowers
sitting at my wake.

do you still dream of
me, like an annoying ghost
still begging you back?

apocalyptic
dream ash burns skin, nobody
sees — umbrellas up.
