Today’s haiku challenge:
My style is the five/seven/five syllable structure. Here are my 10 haiku poems:
duty to my pain.
I show up ready every
day for the battle.
my eternal flame
for you is a duty to
love lost, never found.
duty to keep on
going; is that optimism?
more like survival.
duty carved into
my chest, sticking through my heart.
white flag waving, “stop.”
duty to your love
unreachable and opaque,
but still I reach through.
depression duty:
arrive at the dented couch;
never, ever move.
depression duty:
say hello to the shadows,
but never goodbye.
depression duty:
watch reels of motion pictures
showing your own end.
depression duty:
hope the blanket turns on you,
smothers with mercy.
depression duty:
crawl under muddy barbwire,
to find the dry land.
