Today’s haiku challenge:
Yes, I’m back to my original style of the five/seven/five syllable structure. Here are my 10 haiku poems:
display me like an
effigy of a man who
lived, not withered down.
display me like those
museum dinosaur bones —
sign that says, “Don’t touch.”
display me like a
billboard for the suffering.
No blinking lights here.
display me like the
grocery cardboard cutouts
advertising pain.
display me like men
in olden time pillories.
A just punishment.
display me like meat
at the butcher, but rotting,
unable to sell.
display me like goop
dripping from your exhaust pipe
cute bumper sticker.
display me like lights
on Christmas with bulbs missing
suburban nightmare.
display me like jack
on Halloween, but no light.
hollow inside, too.
display me like new
year’s ball dropping; nobody
kisses at my fall.
