So, at the start of last year, I set a goal to read 100 books by year’s end. Well, this year, I’ll probably shorten that to 50. But what will the books be? I’m a maniac and continuously buying books from Amazon, Walmart, through yard sales, Half-Price Books and sometimes, fortunately, other people give me books. So there’s much to choose from. And that’s nto even counting new books coming out in 2016 that I may want to buy. Here’s a list of books I’d like to get to this year in no particular order and I’ll break it down by non-fiction and fiction:
Non-fiction:
- Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militiarization of America’s Police by Radley Balko
- A Renegade History of the United States by Thaddeus Russell
- The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander
- The Night of the Gun: A Reporter Investigates the Darkest Story of is Life–His Own by David Carr
- Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
- Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong by James W. Loewen
- Ghettoside: A True Story of Murder in America by Jill Levoy
Fiction:
- All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy
- House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielwski
- The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman
- Room by Emma Donoghue
- Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
So that’s a sampling of 12 books I’d like to read, predominantly non-fiction I want to get to. Any books you guys and gals could recommend me that I just OUGHT TO READ?!
