Poem: Unrequited Love

A poem I did back in high school, which tied for first place for “best poem” according to the ruling of my English teacher in one classroom, so there’s that. A bit rough around the edges to my eyes now, but alas…

Unrequited Love

The chains of an unrequited love; the bondage of a tortured soul.
Though the anguish is in abundance; the torment abound.
Though the depths of wallow; the despairing crevice expound.
The extravagant beauty guides; the aesthetic enthusiasm directs.
A compass of euphoria; a North Star of hope.
Only one glance, one wink,
A confirmation of feelings; a mutual acceptance;
Shall relinquish me from this desolate cell; this introverted Hell.
