Today’s haiku challenge:
My style is the five/seven/five syllable structure. Here are my 10 haiku poems:
I would rise from the
ashes like a phoenix, but
cliches hold me down.
I would rise from the
ashes like a phoenix, but
it’s comfortable.
I would rise from the
ashes like a phoenix, but
more burning to do.
I would rise from the
ashes like a phoenix, if
I didn’t burst again.
I would rise from the
ashes of my depression
but they’re smothering.
I would rise from the
ashes of anxiety, but
I’m afraid of heights.
Rise above the pain
a ghost above a waking
body, sleepwalking.
Rise in the morning,
then go back to sleep — defeat
heavy on the eyes.
Rise in the morning,
napalm in the coffee; this
is the best it gets.
Rise in the morning,
filter eyes through dark curtains,
a world seen in grays.
