Today’s haiku challenge:
My style is the five/seven/five syllable structure. Here are my 10 haiku poems:
pause at the steeple,
listen for the holy bells;
they ring out of tune.
pause at the curb of
the suburban home, we know
not what goes on there.
pause at capitol
steps, and watch for the oil slicks;
you wouldn’t want to trip.
pause during the night;
the heart riots against the
chest to be set free.
pause at the edge of
the forest, human feet taint
the balance of it.
pause the depression,
let me live a little please,
and then I’ll come back.
pause anxiety,
if your jittery finger
can find the button.
the pauses between
us grew into breaks, which grew
into “overs,” — “dones.”
how do you pause our
love, a gushing river? It
just flowed one way.
pause the rest of the
story, stick a knife bookmark
in it; watch it bleed.
