20 Questions for Every Wrestling Fan

Look at that monster.

I saw this list of 20 questions pop up on reddit and even though some of the questions are outdated, I figured I’d answer these. Gut reaction answers!

1.) Favorite current superstar

Bianca Belair because what she can do in the ring is an unreal combination of athleticism and style, and she has cut some of the best babyface promos this year. She is the total package.

2.) Favorite superstar of all time?

Of all time is tough, as I could answer a different way if asked multiple times, but I have to say The Undertaker. Nobody provided me with more entertainment for longer at a higher level than him period. And if I look at my all-time favorite matches, a lot of them involve him and the same goes for moments.

3.) Favorite current [women’s wrestler]?

(We don’t use “diva” anymore.) I already said Bianca is my favorite current superstar, so it follows she would also be my favorite current women’s wrestler, but just to offer a second answer: Becky. She came back from an 18-month paternity leave and is arguably doing the best work of her career in the ring and on the microphone.

4.) Favorite [women’s wrestler] of all time?

Charlotte Flair. She’s the greatest of all time as far as I’m concerned. Nobody has delivered on the biggest stage more consistently than her. The fact that she’s carved out that place for herself as the daughter of Ric Flair, who many consider the greatest of all time, is a remarkable testament to her talent and athleticism. She’s not to be known as the daughter of Ric Flair. She’s Charlotte Flair, the GOAT, standing on her own.

5.) WrestleMania or Summerslam and why?

This might surprise people, but I’m actually more of a Summerslam guy, despite having attended zero in-person and having attended six WrestleManias in-person. The reason? Nostalgia, to be honest. To me, Summerslam was always the big show to watch right before school started and it felt like, I don’t know, the last vestige of a happy place before having to return to school? At times, Summerslam has also bested WrestleMania for best show of the year.

6.) Do you have the WWE Network [on Peacock]?

Yes, a day-one subscriber. It’s a no-brainer deal, folks, even more so now that it’s tied into Peacock. All WWE PPVs that have ever existed? Current ones? ECW and WCW PPVs? All Raws and SmackDowns ever? All the original content and documentaries? It pays for itself, if you’re a wrestling fan. And bonus, I know get the Peacock content, which I’ve been enjoying as of late.

7.) Favorite title belt of all time?

It has to be the the one first introduced to Stone Cold Steve Austin after her won at WrestleMania 14, replacing the one Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart wore (the winged Eagle belt). I’m not a belt guy, so I don’t know it’s formal name. The Attitude Era Championship? The Big Gold Belt, or World Heavyweight Title, is a close second. Gorgeous.

8.) Favorite current title belt?

The WWE NXT UK World Title. That belt is gorgeous-looking.

9.) Least favorite superstar of all time?

This is a tough one because there’s obviously a lot of bad wrestlers, or bad people who were wrestlers, or both, but I’m going to go with someone I didn’t care for that others might have liked: Razor Ramon. Nothing particularly against Scott Hall or anything, but I think I’ve literally seen two matches of his and incidentally, in respective roles: against HBK at WrestleMania 10 in the famous ladder match and against Austin at WrestleMania 18 in the forgettable Austin ‘Mania match. I have no real desire to seek out more.

10.) Least favorite current superstar?

Hmm. I’m going to go with an AEW answer: The Young Bucks. They’re not for me at all. I don’t like their matches. I don’t like their characters. I don’t like their promos. Nothing about them does it for me. It’s an instant muting of the show until their segment or match is over.

11.) Favorite WrestleMania moment?

So many to choose from, but the relief (oddly enough) and the elation of seeing Daniel Bryan defeat Randy Orton and Batista to close out WrestleMania XXX with both titles and all of the confetti, especially after the heartbreak of seeing The Streak end, is the greatest WrestleMania moment of all time.

12.) Favorite Era?

I could go three different ways with this and make three compelling arguments, but ultimately, I have to go with the … current era. Yeah, I said it! Because as much as I love the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era, there is nothing quite comparable in either Era as having the Four Horsewomen (Charlotte Flair, Becky, Sasha and Bayley) plus Bianca operating at the same time. That alone elevates the current era for me, much less when you add in all the other elements I enjoy.

13.) Favorite match of this year so far?

Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 37. There’s been a lot of great matches this year, but as far as I’m concerned, this one is a step above the rest.

14.) Favorite piece of merch you own, if any?

Probably the Roman Reigns green-ish shirt, with “I Bring the Fight,” on the front and “Believe That,” on the back. I wear it every week. It hits the mark of being both a “cool” wrestling t-shirt and being comfortable. Plus, I love Roman.

15.) Favorite faction of all time?

If New Day or the Shield do not count because they’re trios, then I would go with Evolution. It’s just such a cool concept and it produced two stars in Randy Orton and Batista, as designed.

16.) Do you like the current WWE WHC (and why)?

I’m a huge fan of both Big E and Roman Reigns, including both men’s current iterations, so yes. Roman Reigns is doing the best character work of his entire career and has sustained that for more than 15 months. Big E brings a vibe to the WWE Title we haven’t seen since … Jeff Hardy in 2008 maybe?

17.) Do you think the [women’s wrestlers] should have more titles?

Another question that feels outdated, but no. If anything, the tag titles are superfluous. They need to book better stories that don’t revolve around the titles. That goes for both women and men on the roster.

18.) Favorite finisher?

Currently: Deep Six by Baron Corbin because it looks cool and I think it’s one of the more protected finishers there is; when is the last time someone kicked out of it?

All time: The Chokeslam by Kane specifically. He made it look so cool and devastating, particularly when he would bust out the one-armed Chokeslam, as seen at the start of this post on HHH.

19.) Favorite stipulation?

If you consider how many Hell in a Cell matches would make it onto my top 25 (or top 50) matches of all time, and it’s considerable, then the Hell in a Cell.

20.) Favorite PPV?

If this is asking what my favorite PPV in general is to watch, then it’s the Royal Rumble. If the question is my favorite PPV ever, it’s … the Royal Rumble PPV in 2001 probably. Or WrestleMania XXX.

Bonus Question: Have you met any superstars? If yes, who?

Yes. I have the opportunity to meet Nikki Bella, which was awesome and I was quite nervous. It was the first time I’d ever met a pro wrestler in-person. It was a great, albeit quick, moment to simply thank her. And of course, I rocked my Fearless t-shirt while doing it. At that same Axxess, we also met Summer Rae, who was very nice. I feel like we also met Mark Henry briefly, but I might be making that up.

What a nerd (me).

How would you answer these questions?
