The other day, I was searching for something and came across a haiku I wrote in 2016 and submitted to my university, which, along with 12 others, was published on their website. I’d completely forgotten about this one.
I cringe at most things I’ve previously written, especially the longer it has been since I’ve written it. Nonetheless, I follow the seven-five-seven syllable structure. It didn’t have a title at the time, so this is a title I just came up with.
Coals Between the Toes
My toes curl hot coals.
For her, I do anything.
She averts her gaze.
