Haiku: Benny

I haven’t written a haiku in a while, and I figured I’d go the unusual route (for me!) of writing a happy one about my good boy, Benny. When I do haiku, I both follow the rules and don’t: I follow the rules in the sense of doing the five-seven-five syllable structure, and I don’t follow the rules in terms of what philosophically a haiku is (typically). Anyhow, here’s the photo inspiration. I took it this morning of him.

Don’t you just wanna kiss his face? Or boop his nose?

And the resulting haiku:

he smells of the earth —
eyes glance upon my shadow:
“Another photo?”
