Food Review: Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Cookies

Yum!

Does this ever happen to you? You’re going to the grocery store with the intention of only getting a few items and as you’re walking through the store, you inevitably come across an impulse buy and you give into said impulse?

Happens. All. The. Time. To. Me.

Case in point: This evening, I went to my local grocery store because I was out of milk. I was going to the store to get more milk and perhaps a new batch of bananas. That’s it, I swear!

To get to the produce, I have to go through the bakery aisle (well, I don’t have to, but I do), which means going through all of the desserts, such as cakes, cupcakes and yes, cookies galore.

With it being the fall season, everything is pumpkin-ized. And I love it! No complaints from me. I’ll take anything you want to throw pumpkin or pumpkin spice flavoring at: coffee, cookies, cereal, bread, whatever it is, give it to me, please!

If I had to pick my favorite cookie, which is hard to do, I’d have to go with snickerdoodle. That flavor is indescribably good. (Other favorite flavors include sugar, chocolate chip and ginger, of course.) So, when I’m walking along all innocent on my way to the bananas, I see PUMPKIN SNICKERDOODLE. Are you kidding me?! What’s faster than an impulse snatch? Because that’s what I did. I snatched those up without even giving them a second look.

I may not be good at math, but it doesn’t take much for me to understand the equation that my favorite cookie plus pumpkin sounds delicious.

I zoomed past the bananas because the stock was rather low and grabbed my milk (I’ll be doing a separate review of that, so stay tuned!).

Folks. These pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies are testing my ability to withstand temptation and fall off the proverbial food wagon and roll away like a rotten apple. They’re delicious. Melt-in-your-mouth sort of delicious. That sort of soft, mhmm cookie crumble you love. That beautiful melding of that indescribable snickerdoodle flavor with that lovely hint and aroma of pumpkin. Goodness!

They’re sitting next to me, taunting me to try another. But I shall not. I already finished my food diary for the evening like a dutiful calorie soldier. I will say, compared to most regular-sized glazed doughnuts I’ve seen, these pumpkin snickerdoodles are at least slightly less than those. Those doughnuts usually clock in at 230 calories per serving, which I consider dang near an entire meal at this point. These pumpkin snickerdoodles, on the other hand, clock in at 140 calories for one cookie. As you can see from the photo, it’s a good sized cookie, too! These aren’t baby cookies.

I just noticed the label from Lofthouse promises “soft & delicious.” That’s the tl;dr version of this review because that’s spot on.

So, if you also find yourself innocently walking through the grocery store and come upon these soft and delicious pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies, I highly recommend them.

  1. I think this is so funny because so far I’ve pretty much liked everything you’ve mentioned when it comes to food or beverages. But snickerdoodles and things with pumpkin are my least favorite things in the bakery section. And thankfully so, or I’d be rolling away like a rotten apple too. 🙃 Btw… I lost all control tonight and caved in and bought bbq corn chips. I can never find them and they’re just so darn good. So if I eat that whole bag, I’ll definitely be in trouble. 😬
